Pop culture’s next stop at 9th edition of Delhi Comic Con

Pop culture has become an integral part of our daily life’s needs. It’s pretty evident from the number of people posting some pop culture reference in their dating app bio. People want to find someone who has similar interests in pop culture in the first look. So an event totally dedicated to pop culture is meant to excel in one of the largest country with varying preferences. Comic Con provides just the platform for people to be able to display their affection for various references that have now become an integral part of their lives.

The Delhi Comic Con is the culminating feature of the world renowned event’s India chapter. Biggest among all, 9th edition of Delhi Comic Con will be held from December 20th to December 22nd, 2019 between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm at NSIC Exhibition Ground, Okhla. Sponsored by Maruti Suzuki Arena, the three-day-long extravaganza is all set to unravel a roller coaster ride for the city’s fandom community – powered by an awesome line-up of Indian & International creators, performances, meet & greet sessions, and gaming and experiential zones from the world’s leading studios.

The tickets for this capturing event are available on Delhi Comic Con’s website ( https://comicconindia.com/delhi/ ) . Currently two types of tickets are available on the website, the Single-Day pass at INR 599 and the Two-Day Superfan Tickets at INR 1,999. The Single Day Pass holders will be provided with a limited edition Archie’s Comic Book, a Marvel’s Avenger Bag and an exclusive poster. The Superfans, in addition to these, will also be provided with a Thanos Funko Pop, Iron Man tee and a Captain America badge all in a specially crafted Superfan Box.

The show will be headlined by popular international artists from the comics fraternity including BossLogic aka Kode Abdo, illustrator Chad Hardin, and artist/designer Bernard Chang. It will also feature live performances by Beatboxer Ish, Classic Collective, MISBA crew, Rahul Dua, Samiara Sheikh, and the mentalist Karan Singh.

Everyone loves to cosplay their favourite characters and it feels nice if you get an incentive for your hardwork. Hence the INR 2 lakh prize pool in the two categories on each day of the show. The game has changed with a new format being set up by Comic Con. The first category, Indian Championship of Cosplay 2019 Delhi Qualifier, will see participants compete online, thereafter, pre-selected participants will go through a stage display session and compete on 3 parameters – needlework, FX and armor.

The registrations for ICC 2019 Delhi Qualifier will be done online only. Each day, the winners of the Delhi qualifier round will not only win awards but also qualify to participate in the Indian Championship of Cosplay 2020. The second contest format, namely the Delhi Comic Con Cosplay Contest 2019 is a celebration of all pop culture. For which the participants can register on-ground at the venue each day, and then compete on the Arena stage to eventually win the grand prize for the contest.

The event also provides a platform for the leading exhibitors and brands to showcase their coolest and quirkiest products to the visitors. People coming to the event will get a chance to see real-world exhibits of their favourite comics, TV shows, movies, games and animes.

The New Delhi chapter of this international festival of pop culture will be followed by Ahmedabad’s debut edition at the Gujarat University Convention and Exhibition Centre next year on February 1st and 2nd, 2020.
